Peachtree Publishers

For today's inside the publishing world I thought I'd focus on a smaller publisher, Peachtree Publishers. They are located in Atlanta, Georgia and acquire PB, Young Readers, MG, and YA. For fiction they acquire adventure, animal, history, nature, sports and mystery. They do not want science fiction or romance.
If you write nonfiction they are open to animals, history, biography and nature. They do not want to see religion. Among their nonfiction they also publish parenting, self help and health books.

They are open to queries. For PB send the entire MS. For MG and YA send 3 sample chapters. They do not look at queries that do not contain part of the MS. They do ask for the normal 6 months to respond. No fax or email submittals are looked at.

For illustrators they ask for samples, no original art work, slides and color copies to keep on file. They work with around 10 artists a year.

In both cases, send a SASE, they will not reply to you if there is no return envelope.

Current publications among MG include: Anna Casey's Place in the World, by Adrian Fogelin, Emma's River by Alison Hart and Dugout Rivals by Fred Bowen. Among YA there's Giving Up the Ghost by Sheri Sinykin, the Glow Stone by Ellen Dreyer and Death Mountain by Sherry Shahan.

If you'd like to submit a query the address is 1700 Chattahoochee Ave., Atlanta, GA 30318. For acquisitions contact Helen Harriss, for illustrations contact Loraine Joyner. But before you do, make sure you check out their website and review all their submissions guidelines- http://www.peachtree-online.com/ .
