PAL MEMBERS: WORKSHOPS STILL AVAILABLE AT THE INTENSIVES JUST FOR YOU!
In addition to the PROtrack for PAL members during the regular conference schedule, we have four incredible workshops specifically designed with our professional members in mind during the intensives on Monday, August 8, 2011. Check out the breakdown below, and click here for the full schedule.
AM Session: Advanced Contracts Negotiations with Jan Constantine
An expert contract analyst for the Author's Guild dissects the components of a contract reviewing both standard and new technology clauses.
AM Session: New Rules of Media Engagement with Susan Raab
This workshop will focus on how to reach out to all strains of media in new ways to get them enthusiastic about your work. Develop essential skills for positioning your work in the competitive publicity arena.
PM Session: Speak Up! Crafting a Dynamite Presentation for Schools, Skype, Conferences & More with Bruce Hale
This workshop will help authors and illustrators discover the keys to taking your presentation to the next level.
PM Session: Make Your Own Book Trailer with Chris Cheng
Participants will bring their laptops and receive immediate and concrete instruction as they actually make a book trailer.
ONLY A FEW SPACES LEFT IN THE ILLUSTRATORS INTENSIVE!
There are only a few spaces left in our Post-Conference Intensive for Illustrators on Monday, August 8th. Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity to learn from award-winning illustrators like Marla Frazee and Kadir Nelson during special craft-building technique demonstrations. Full schedule here!
DON'T FORGET ABOUT THE PORTFOLIO SHOWCASE MENTORSHIP PROGRAM!
All participants in the Portfolio Exhibit are eligible for the Mentorship Program. The goal is to identify, develop and nurture publishable illustrators.
Each member of the Illustrators Committee will identify one illustrator from the portfolio exhibit as a mentee for advanced level critique and mentoring.
The winners will be announced following the portfolio show.
Each illustrator mentee will meet with every Illustrators Committee mentor for a 15 minute one-on-one session to discuss their work, ask questions, get suggestions, and be challenged to take his/her work to the next level.
On the last day of the conference, each illustrator chosen will meet for a group critique by both peers and mentors and create career development strategies.
