Book Review and ARC giveaway - Abandon by Meg Cabot
Abandon, the newest YA release from Meg Cabot and published by Point, is an amazing ride. I have one ARC to give away. Just fill out the rafflecopter form, if you don’t see it click ‘read more’.
The Story- At fifteen Pierce died.
When she came back to life she not only had a strange necklace around her neck, but a memory that no one else believed. Haunted by her experiences of death, Pierce and her mom move to a new town looking for a fresh start. But, wherever Pierce goes, a stranger follows.
My Thoughts- This is a captivating book. You really have to read chapter by chapter so that you can piece together not only what happened when Pierce was dead, but also what happened in her old town after she came back. There are several mysteries that float around aching to be solved.
Pierce’s character is very kind. She always thinks of others first, which is what drives John, the stranger, to her in the beginning. She seems so down to earth, dealing with what happened to her and with a strange man that follows her around.
John is aloof, but enough hints are given that he feels like a very sexy character. The story itself is a modern retake on the myth of Persephone, but with the ending still unknown. Book two, The Underworld, is yet to come. A fun read for ages 12 and up. There is no sex, accept for what’s alluded to on the last page and though violence is there, it is not gory or described in detail.
