Book Review and Giveaway - The Skeleton's Knife by Joni Sensel

It's time  for a book review and a cool giveaway. Let’s take a look at the third book in the YA fantasy Farwalker trilogy, The Skeleton’s Knife, by Joni Sensel. Joni signed my review copy, so I am happy to host a giveaway for this great book. Just fill out the rafflecopter form below.

The Story – Ariel Farwalker is stuck in a love triangle between her long time friend, Zeke, and the boy her heart races over, Nace. Trying to break the tension, Ariel decides to head off on a Farwalker quest to destroy an evil knife with traces to the underworld.

While on her quest Ariel discovers an old smuggler’s cove and a new friend, Dain, a windcharmer. To save the life of a dear friend, Ariel heads to the land of the dead where an old enemy is intent on revenge and her chances of returning to the living shrink from slim to none.

My Thoughts - One of the main things I like about the Farwalker books are the small settlements Ariel finds that are left over from the destruction of the world. The smuggler’s cove she finds is interesting in that it is a dying community that is full of past history.

The love triangle involved in the story is one any teenager can relate to: the old friend and the new love. Who do you choose? I enjoyed the way Joni solved the problem, it felt real to life and you aren’t cheated by having one of them die, so the choice is made by the main character, not for the main character.

Another plus is the introduction of two new characters, Dain and Cassalie. Both these ladies are well written, and are very interesting characters full of voice. They move the story along and add a great subplot. The story itself holds its own and can be read independent of the rest, but I suggest reading the whole trilogy.
