Book Review- My Epic Fairy Tale Fail by Anna Staniszewski
Our main girl Jenny is back, and this time she is on an adventure to Fairy land, the last place her parents were ever seen. Hitching a ride with her are her best friends Trish and Melissa.
Jenny and her friends have to solve three impossible tasks or else Fairy land will lose all its magic. But, Jenny is having a hard time concentrating as she takes the time to look for clues about her lost parents.
So much better than the first book! I can't stress this enough. This edition feels YA, without kiddie names or events. Jenny is still her adventurous self, defying those who are in authority to find out about her parents. She is a spunky character to see evolve and change. Plus, the addition of her best friends is a lot of fun. For them, everything is new and magical and their reactions are priceless.
The three impossible tasks add an air of "a quest" to the story. Plus, the challenges are not easy to figure out, which I appreciated. We also get to laugh at the characters in Fairy tale land who don't know how to do anything without magic.
Regarding the ending, I really liked it. There is a bit of suspense and then a kick in the pants that gets you ready for a sequel.
Honestly, this book is YA because of the characters ages, but middle graders will like it too.
