Mallory killed her boyfriend, Brian, but she doesn't remember it. Now, she is haunted by his presence, hearing him walking around her house at night. To escape her small town, she enrolls in a fancy prep school where no one knows her.
Mallory struggles to fit in. She is terrified by her nightmares, and now she wakes up with bruises shaped like hand prints on her shoulder. What is happening? Things get worse when the school bad boy ends up dead in Mallory's dorm room. She knows she didn't do it, but with her history, will anyone believe her?
This is a nice, creepy story. Mallory has no idea what happened the night Brian died, and the entire story revolves around her remembering her past. There is great tension and pacing as the story builds, and then when another boy dies- Opps! Now Mallory is in real trouble.
I love the paranormal aspects of the book. There is a stalker, a creepy spirit, and unusual wounds. The problem, when the author tried to wrap the story up, the conclusion fell short. What really happened was just anti-climatic. Plus, what was up with those bruises? That was a part I loved, but they don't jive with the ending. This book has a great beginning and middle, it just needs a little help in the end. But, worth the read just to solve the mystery.
