At midnight in your time zone, start writing! After a vigorous scribing session, make your first word-count update (from the menu at the top of our site). Plus, visit your regional forum to find kick-off events and more throughout the month.

Check in on the 100,000 K-12 students participating in our Young Writers Program. Find inspiration in the homepage Dare Machine, be jealous of their pep talkers, and root them on with the#NaNoWriMoYWP hashtag.

As you rocket into Week One, be sure you've explored all the corners of the NaNoVerse. We're on TumblrFacebookTwitter,Pinterest, and YouTube. And on our blog, 30 Covers, 30 Days is in full swing.

Our 2013 pep talkers should be keeping those words flowing. Look for them in your NaNoMail inbox, plus visit the archive for past letters from authors like Neil Gaiman and John Green.

Join our all-day Writing Marathon and Donation Day to power up your novel and support our nonprofit. We'll be livestreaming from NaNo HQ, plus tweeting updates, challenges, and giveaways. No word count left behind.

Need to banish the the Week Two blahs? Check the Procrastination Station on your dashboard for daily links to forums, social media, videos, and participant blog posts. Or, consult our expert NaNo Coaches!

Hey, you know that brilliant thing you've been writing? Be sure it's backed up! Put it in the mysterious cloud, email it to yourself, or save it on a memory device (we like this one).

Throughout the month, our local volunteers have been rooting you on. ML Appreciation Day is the time to say thanks: send a NaNoMail or start a thread in your regional forum.

Here in San Francisco, it's the Night of Writing Dangerously. If you can't make it, look for similar novel-celebrating events in your region—or follow along virtually.

Winning starts today! If you're at 50,000 words or more, click "Validate My Novel" in the My NaNoWriMo menu. Check your NaNoMail for info on ordering a winner shirt, plus consider a donation to help us support even more novel finishes.

  1. I'm going to participate, but am going to do it on my own, because I'm going back to finish a novel I started back a few years ago. I figure if I can do about 1000 words a day, maybe I can finish it in 30,000 words! Good luck to you as well!
