A Magazine just for Middle Graders

*Don't forget to enter my Clear Your Shelf Giveaway! I've got a box of ARC's.

For Middle Grade Monday I am taking a look at the latest issue of Middle Shelf Magazine- an emag just for middle graders. So heads up all you teachers and librarians- I think Middle Shelf is the next big thing for the classroom. Here is the link to the Jan./feb. Issue http://issuu.com/shelfunbound/docs/middle_shelf_january-february_2014. Subscriptions are free!

The lead story is an author interview with the amazing Richard Peck! There are also author interviews with Kami Kinard, The Boy Problem, and debut novelist Ravina Thakkar, The Adventure of a Lifetime. For any budding artists, there is an interview with Kelly Murphy, the illustrator of Richard Peck's The Mouse with the Question Mark Tail. Then, if you're wondering what's new, the magazine has great spotlights on current releases as well as several book review by kids for kids.

Children are asked each edition to send in their own works. This edition features poems about snow sent in
by kids across the country. The new challenge is to write in about what character from a book you would like to have lunch with and what would you eat? The deadline is Feb. 1, 2014.
