Welcome to this stop on the Vengeance blog tour! Today I have a review of Megan Miranda's latest YA psychological thriller.
Decker almost lost his girlfriend Delaney to the frozen Falcon Lake, but after bargaining with God to take someone, anyone else, she miraculously lived. Her near death experience leaves Delaney changed, and with a new found power, the ability to sense death. Her recovery also causes the townspeople to drag up an old wives tale, that Falcon Lake is cursed and wants victims.
Decker and Delaney are doing well, until Decker's dad dies and Delaney does nothing to prevent it. Decker can't forgive Delaney and he won't listen to her explanations. Feeling lost and alone, Decker can't stop thinking about his father. Then, someone vandalizes Decker's and Delaney's houses, and strange threats are left for them. Is someone after them? or is it the curse?
Another great psychological thriller from Miranda. She does a great job of introducing the curse of Falcon Lake and then building up tension as more and more people around town start dying. Delaney is an interesting character. Because the story is told from Decker's pov, the reader doesn't really know what is going on in her mind. There are times she appears cold, but then you find out more in depth info and think she's just doing the best she can. Still, I kept thinking she was hiding something.
So, we have two entwined mysteries- what happened to Delaney and who or what is after Decker? The clues are given and the stakes are high. You'll enjoy reading it just to find out what's going on.
