Book Review and Giveaway- Cured by Bethany Wiggins

I've got a great sequel to review for YA Friday. Today I am looking at Cured by Bethany Wiggins, the sequel to last year's Stung. I have a copy to giveaway. To enter fill in the rafflecopter form at the bottom. If you don't see it click, 'read more'.

The Story-
The world is still in crisis, the honeybee population is nearly extinct and the beasts are running amok. But, there is hope. At the end of Stung, a cure for the beasts was revealed and in Cured, that cure is available. Fiona Tarsis and her twin brother Jonah are ready to set things right. When a young girl, Jacqui, who is dressed as a boy, asks for their help, they decide to set out to Wyoming where there is supposed to be a safe haven.

They carry the cure with them, but their path isn't easy. Raiders control the roads, capturing woman and killing men. Plus, beasts are everywhere, and all they want is blood and flesh.

My Thoughts-
This is a well done sequel. First off, the story is told from the POV of Jacqui, a young girl readers only got a glimpse of in the first book. Jacqui has been living as a boy, training with weapons and running on a treadmill daily to improve her stamina. She is fierce and bold, but inside still struggles with emotions and the loss of her older brother. When she decides to set off and find her brother, the adventure begins.

She ends up recruiting Jonah, Fiona, and Fiona's boyfriend, Bowen. Together they end up facing raiders at every turn. The tension is great. Just when they escape one situation, they are sucked into another. I especially liked the addition of the character Kevin. Kevin appears out of nowhere, or so the reader believes. He is able to help out our group of travelers and Jacqui falls for him. But, there is a tug-of-war with his character. The author throws in several events that cause the reader to doubt Kevin's loyalty. Wiggins does such a good job that I didn't know what to think about him. I liked the uncertainty.

Filled with action, adventure and life or death situations, this book will stun readers. 4 stars!
