Ungifted by Kelly Oram

YA Friday! Today I am reviewing book two in the Supernaturals series- Ungifted by Kelly Oram.

The Story-
Grace St. Claire is the daughter of the future President of America. She is a normal, shy girl who is always getting into accidents. When these accidents become near fatal, Claire finally takes notice, and so does Ethan, a handsome high school hunk. Ethan can't figure out why he is drawn to Claire or why he has a desire to protect her.

Then, a vampire becomes aware of her, and her ability to resist him feeds his desire to possess her. Ethan has his work cut out for him, especially when he is unable to deny the supernatural world that exists around them, what, with him being nephillium and Claire's best friend a werewolf. Plus, Russ, a warlock, has rolled into town and is also drawn straight to Claire. Soon prophesies and destiny join the mix, and Claire's vampire admirer decides to claim her no matter what. Her friends try to protect her, but who can they trust?

My Thoughts-

Ah, a great series. I bought book one, Chameleon, and book two, Ungifted, at the same time. Sure glad I did, because I inhaled both. I love fantasy and paranormal and this series is full of them both. I enjoyed all of the supernatural characters that roam this story, and the fact that Claire is a human that is able to resist them all, is priceless.

The plot is strong and filled with tension. It is also distinct from book one, but tied closely to it, with Russ being a linking character. I found Russ's agony at being away from Dani to be painful. The author does a great job with emotions and allowing the reader to feel the character's angst. Grace, as ungifted, is the only one that can help Russ with his pain. Thus a great dynamic is set up with Grace, Ethan and Russ as pivotal characters. Ethan, who is attracted to Grace, but also repelled by her humanness, and Russ, who needs Grace to eliminate his pain, but also finds her attractive (an exact twin of his former love). Poor Grace, who has all these strong males attracted to her, including her best friend's werewolf brothers, and who just wants to be left alone.

The story line and romance puzzle will grab the reader and have them earning for book 3, Scion, which just came out! I'm in the middle of reading it right now! 5 stars!
