Happy Thursday and welcome to Cover Love, the segment where I pick out a book cover that stopped me in my tracks and made me pick up the book. A huge kudos to all those illustrators and cover artists out there making those books jump off the shelves. Today I want to show you Alcatraz Vs. The Evil Librarians 4- The Shattered Lens by Brandon Sanderson.
Jacket Art by Scott Brundage
Jacket design by Issac Stewart
The first thing that grabbed me about this cover is the cool kid in shades holding up a teddy bear in victory, and right next to him, a cool girl with a giganto sword. It made me want to know more from the get go. The next thing I loved is that surrounding these kids are massive, evil looking robots with red eyes. You can't see it on the above cover, but the image continues on the back side where you are able to see just how big these robots really are. What is going on? How are these kids going to fight gigantic robots? And how does the teddy bear fit in?
All good questions that made me pick up this book and start reading. My only hesitation is that Brandon Sanderson's name and best author headline take up a huge chunk of the bottom. I know author's sell books, but since this is cover love, I want more art. What do you think of the cover?
