CLAYMORE AWARDS- Deadline May 31, 2012

The Claymore Award is bestowed upon the author of the best beginning (up to 50 pages) of an unpublished manuscript not currently under contract. Deadline May 31, 2012. Entrants do not have to attend the Killer Nashville Conference to be eligible. The ten finalists are chosen through a blind judging process and sent to our 2012 publishing partner, Five Star Press/Tekno Books. Five Star chooses the final winner, who receives an engraved replica of a Claymore dagger.




Gival Press Novel Award- Deadline May. 30, 2012

Katherine Pateron Prize for YA and Children's

FAMILY CIRCLE FICTION CONTEST- deadline 9/7/12

NO ENTRY FEE
Deadline September 7, 2012. Submit an original (written by 
entrant), fiction short story of no more than 2,500 words, 
typed, double-spaced and page numbered on 8-1/2x11 paper. 
Limit two entries per person. Legal residents of the 50 United 
States, and the District of Columbia, 21 years of age or older 
are eligible to enter. 

Grand Prize winner will receive a prize package including $750, 
a gift certificate to one mediabistro.com course of his or her 
choice, one year mediabistro.com AvantGuild membership, and a one 
year mediabistro.com How-to Video membership. Total approximate 
retail value of grand prize package $1,514.

Second Place winner will receive a check for $250 and the rest
similar to the grand prize winner. Total retail value $404.

Third Place winner will receive a check for $250 and a one-year 
mediabistro.com AvantGuild membership. Total RV $305.

The Scare The Dickens Out of Us ghost story contest and the 
Junior Scare The Dickens Out of Us ghost story contest share 
identical rules except the entry fees and the following: 
Junior contest writers must be age 12-18. Winners will have 
to provide proof of age. The contest is open to published and 
unpublished writers alike. All publication rights remain with 
the author. The ghost story must be 5,000 words or less, in 
English, and typed double-spaced. Entries accepted beginning
July 1, 2012. Deadline October 1, 2012.

For a self-published book - fiction or nonfiction. One Winner will receive $500 cash, announcement on the Anderbo web site and publication of a book-excerpt on anderbo.com. Initial judging will be based on the first 40 pages (ONLY) of the self-published book. Deadline October 15, 2012. Finalists in this contest will be required to supply the entire book at a later date.
