That's right everyone, NANOWRIMO is almost here. So, no more putting it off, during the month of November I task you with writing a 50,000 word novel. Don't worry about plot, don't worry about character, just write.
I participated last year for the first time and it was great. There's no pressure to write the next great American masterpiece, in fact, you're not supposed to revise. Every day you type around 2,000 words. Let the ideas flow out of you. It doesn't have to be perfect, in fact, if you feel like changing voice mind stream, go for it. The point is to get that novel written. Time for all those rewrites later.
Need some help? Check out the book, "No Plot? No Problem!" by Chris Baty. I suggest you read section one before November.
Then what? Go to http://www.nanowrimo.org/ and sign up. The site will help you track your progress, connect you with other participants near and far, cheer you on and give you a nifty little print out certificate if you finish.
I'll keep you up to date on my writing. This year I am actually aiming for a 35,000 word middle grade novel. That's right, not even going for the whole shebang, it's all about writing.
