Dreaming of Books Giveaway Hop- Fractured Light by Rachel McCellan
Welcome to this stop on the Dreaming of Books Giveaway Hop. First a little background. I was asked to participate in an upcoming blog tour for Rachel McCellan's book Fractured Soul. It is book 2 in a series, so I also requested book one. And let me tell you, I loved it. I contacted the author and she has graciously agreed to offer up a hard copy of Fractured Light (book 1) and 2 ecopies- that's 3 winners! To enter fill out the rafflecopter form below. If you don't see it, click read more.
The Story-
Llona Reese is a child of the light, literally. Within her DNA are components that allow her to manipulate light and energy. She is constantly on the run, trying to avoid the evil Vyken, who want nothing more than to kill her, steal her powers, and suck her blood.
Right now Llona and her Uncle are living in a small town, and Llona has finally decided to try living a normal life. She even has a love interest- Christian. But, Christian isn't what he seems, and Llona doesn't know if she can trust him.
There is also something hunting her, something dark. She's scared it is a Vyken, but doesn't want to leave her new home where her life finally seems to be full of normalcy. Without a mother to train Llona in the ways of Auras, Llona is all alone, except for her friends.
My Thoughts-
I really loved this book. I read it all the way through in one day. Llona is a great character, full of spunk and determination. I love the way she learns to fight, instead of allowing herself to be a victim. Then there is Christian. He is an intriguing character. The reader knows he is keeping secrets, but we also know he is falling for Llona. As we follow their story line, unexpected things come to light. A very fun twist!
And then there is the tension and pacing. The author does a great job building up suspense. The darkness that follows Llona is creepy. And when you realize it could be anyone in the story, it changes your fear level. You don't know whom to trust, and the tension just keeps building.
I highly recommend this book. As soon as I finished it, I read book 2, also in one day. Look for my review of it in the future!
