The Story-
Aliens invaded earth years ago. Not with
spaceships, but by implanting themselves into mother’s wombs. When those
intelligences matured, they turned, and the 1st wave began.
EMP’s wiped out the world’s power grid. Those lucky enough to survive thought the worst was over. They were wrong. Next came massive flooding and then plaque. Now only a few humans remain to fight against the 4th wave, the silencers, killers that hunt you down.

Cassie lives deep in the woods with her father and little
brother Sammy. One day a group of military men arrive and say they are taking
children away and hiding them in a safe spot. Sammy is chosen to go, but Cassie
is too old. As she watches her brother leave, she swears she will join him. But, things get worse when her entire camp, including her
father, is killed.
Now Cassie is on her own, and the only thing that keeps her
going is finding her brother. She must travel across the country, evading the
silencers and searching for a top secret camp.
My Thoughts-
A very well planned out book. I like how the author has the
humans actually be the aliens themselves. Honestly, that is the must ingenious
thing about the book. The aliens themselves weren’t corporal. There is no real
way to tell them apart because they were implanted into embryos and grew up not
knowing they weren’t human. When they turn, it becomes an us or them situation,
even though they remember their childhoods. The alien’s one goal is to wipe out all
humans.
Cassie’s story is not the only focus of the book. As she
travels, she is tracked by a silencer. In fact, she is pinned down an injured.
It is at this point that we meet Evan Walker. He saves her life and a romantic
interest develops. Then, we also have Sammy’s story. He is taken to a soldier
training camp and teamed up with an old high school friend of Cassie’s, Ben
Parrish. The story takes on a whole new perspective as we learn about their
soldier training and the facility where they are kept.
Eventually, the stories converge and we reach the climax.
There is a great action packed rescue attempt full of tension. The story
reveals the 5th Wave of the alien attack, which I can’t tell you
because it is part of the plot, but it brilliant.
.
End of the world and aliens. Teens will love this book.
